The Winter Solstice falls on 21st December 2017. It is the longest day, a time of darkness that heralds the rebirth of the Sun.
Solstice is a Latin word meaning 'Sun set still'. The Pagans believed the Sun stood still in the sky before gathering strength to shine a little brighter each day on its journey
to the June Summer Solstice. It's a time of rest and reflection, the fertile and fruitful period from which new beginnings can emerge.
Join me on Sunday 17th December and let time stand still as you nurture yourself with slow, nourishing yoga, suitable for all levels, before moving into the deep and profound stillness of a sound bath and gong meditation with Sonya Kanchan Lal. We will close by welcoming in the light with a joyful and celebratory candlelit Kirtan followed by tea, chat and healthy treats!
Please bring a mat and a bolster/meditation cushions and eye pillow if you have one. If not, a few will be available on the day on a first come, first served basis. The sound bath will last 45 minutes to an hour and the body temperature can drop quite quickly so please bring a blanket and warm clothes to make sure you stay toasty warm!
Kirtan is a form of meditation, an inward journey using the outward expression of chanting Sanskrit mantras. You don't need to be able to sing to do Kirtan and if you've been to my classes you will be familiar with chanting and the effect the mantras have on us.
