A fantastic opportunity to try your hand at Sabar Drumming with Senegalese master drummer Modou Diouf.
Sabar is played using the palm of one hand and a stick in the other. The rhythms are thrilling and exciting and form the basis of Mbalax music, popular in Senegal and West Africa and played by such
artists as Youssou N'Dour and Baaba Maal. Sabar is still played today in Senegal and Gambia at weddings, baby naming ceremonies and most especially at wrestling matches!
Modou is a very experienced and patient teacher and is able to engage all levels of players within a class with humour and expertise. Let us know if you need to borrow a sabar drum.
