We would love you to join us in the Carole Nash Recital Room to celebrate the works of female composers from the Romantic era.
This period saw the birth of some of the most outstanding female composers, particularly within the art of song. Clara Schumann and Fanny Mendelssohn arguably outshone their
relations; in a time where society looked up to men, and women were expected to be the submissive underdog, this balance in creativity and intellect was a rarity.
In the 21st century, women are finally being given the platform to speak out and we need to carry on the legacy of women from the past who were denied this right.
The programme will include works by Clara Schumann, Amy Beach, Lili Boulanger, Fanny Mendelssohn and Jane Vieu.
Come along, it'll be fun (and it's free!)
