BlackPeacock invite you to join them for an hour of training on the concepts of props used for Tribal Improv.
These monthly sessions are open to any dancers with experience in ANY tribal improv format. Although we will be using the BlackPeacock dialect in the sessions, the concepts can be taken away
and applied with minimum adaptation to your own formats. Over the coming months we will cover zillar, swords and floorwork, as well as other concepts.
July's session focuses on Sword work. Unfortunately we are unable to provide swords, so please bring your own or a suitable proxy (such as a cane or staff, even a short broom handle will suffice!) Under no circumstances will live blades be allowed.
As well as practicing movement theory with the swords we will cover basic handling and care of your sword.
REMINDER: If you are bringing your own sword to the session you must transport it in a suitable manner. It must be completely concealed and not recognisable as a weapon. Specialist cases are available, however wrapping it in a towel and carrying it in a yoga bag will often do the trick.
