RM Hubbert & guests
Leith Depot, Edinburgh
Sunday, 4 February 2018
We are incredibly excited to announce that RM Hubbert will be coming to Leith Depot as part of the venue's Independent Venue Week celebrations!
Closing out a fantastic week-long
programme, the award-winning Scottish guitar player and (sometimes) singer, known for his evocative mix of flamenco-style techniques and cathartic explorations of love, life, loss and mental health, will be making a rare, intimate appearance upstairs at The Depot.
Over the course of four full-length albums, Hubbert - or 'Hubby' as he is affectionately known - has developed his unique skills as a guitar player and composer, while still maintaining his innate ability to confront, explore and soothe. As much informed by punk rock and experimental music as he is classical style guitar, Hubbert's most recent album, Telling The Trees (released on Chemikal Underground), features collaborations with an impressive roster of unique and wonderful musicians - including Eleanor Friedberger, Kathryn Joseph and Marnie (Ladytron) - and sees this accomplished and endearing performer expand his musical palette with mesmerising results.
Fresh off the back of touring his live soundtrack to Lev Kuleshov's 1926 movie By The Law, Hubby returns to the roots of his solo performances - expressive, poignant and often even funny - and we couldn't be happier to host him for what promises to be a very special night indeed.
