North of the Sun (45 min/mun) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_LJ2GVttdk
Inge Wegge (25) and Jørn Ranum (22) spent nine months of cold, Norwegian winter in the isolated and uninhabited bay of a remote, arctic island by the coast of Northern-Norway, facing nothing but the vast Atlantic Ocean. There they built a cabin out of driftwood and other cast-off materials that washed up on shore, and ate expired food the stores would otherwise have thrown away. But the boys brought with them two items of utmost importance: Their surfboards - perhaps their biggest motivation for the arctic adventure. Because the remote bay holds a well kept secret; Some of the worlds finest surfing waves..
Skye's the Limit (25 min/mun) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lUkD6ZrOB4
One woman (Cal Major)'s Paddle Against Plastic UK solo circumnavigation of the Isle of Skye, Scotland, on a Stand up Paddleboard. The adventure serves to highlight the effects of plastic pollution on even stunning, remote and wild places such as this, and brings positive and engaging solutions to the issue. The full film follows Cal's epic and dramatic ocean voyage, vulnerable to Scotland's famous winds, waves and tidal races, alone. Featuring beautiful scenery, wildlife, farm animals and Tunnocks teacakes.
Surfers Against Sewage
We’re a community dedicated to the protection of oceans, waves, beaches and wildlife. The Plastic Free Coastlines campaign raises awareness about the growing plastic pollution crisis and how we can all play our part in reducing society’s plastic footprint. Single-use plastic items such as plastic cutlery, coffee cups and plastic water bottles are just the start and we invite you to see just how far we can go together in our shared vision of Plastic Free Coastlines!
Aber Food Surplus
A growing recognition is being given to the amount of food that is thrown away each day in the UK, much of it still perfectly edible. Aber Food Surplus is pursuing the development of a local network, shaped by the Aberystwyth community, that seeks to reduce the levels of 'surplus' food going to landfill or anaerobic digestion, and instead to redistribute this food for both social and environmental benefit. The surplus food we collect currently goes to charity, and surplus from this venture is used for ‘pop up’ community meals, events and workshops.
