Hello folks! A date for your diary! This year sees our fourth annual festival of music, performance poetry and literature in the magical surroundings and beauty of ancient Wales. I began this festival as a platform for new talent to share their work and passion. I am not a promoter, I am a musician,
writer, actor/performer and raconteur and run this as a FREE FESTIVAL. Formerly known as Penlan Festival I changed the name this year as we have a new venue in the heart of the historic town of Llandovery. The Castle Hotel share their hospitality, fine ales and excellent food and is our new Festival home. Camping and other hotels and b&b’s are numerous, nearby and reasonably priced. (Everything in the town is within walking distance of the festival.
The main stage will be in the hotel ballroom with stage management by CARIAD, a Buskers Stage will be open all day Saturday and Sunday at the front of the hotel, Festival Craft Market all three days, Fringe Events including Song Writing Workshop with Carole Etherton and Andrew MacKay, Literature Spa for new authors.
Welsh Connections Song Writing Competition (Plaque designed by Cary Beor) is now in its third year as is Tim Williams Award (Statue Carved by Shaun Durham) for Performance Poetry. Each year the winner from last opens the festival and this year we welcome Llinos Belcher and Karen Gemma Brewer. Your vote decides the final ten who will perform at the festival and the winner is decided by the audience. In addition to the respective award, the winner receives a studio recording of their work, interviews on local radio and Internet TV hosted by Michael Kennedy.
With a full main stage providing almost thirty grand performers over three days, and all the various events this is one not to be missed and its FREE!
