Hailing from the small town of Worthing, quartet High Tyde - bassist and vocalist Cody Thomas-Matthews, guitarists Connor Cheetham and Spencer Tobias-Williams and drummer Louis Semlekan-Faith – have racked up over 3 million streams (as well as 35 plays on Radio 1), sold out London’s landmark Scala venue
and toured the length and breadth of the UK, all through sheer force of will and an unquenchable love for melody.
Having just come off tour with The Hunna and Rat boy going straight into festival season with slots at Reading & Leeds, Boardmasters, Truck, Y Not, Summer Sonic in Japan and Spain’s Arenal Sound, as well as one off shows as far afield as Los Angeles. The boys have just signed to the worlds largest independent music publisher, Imagem music and signed an Australian record deal with Caroline Records.
“We’re best friends, first and foremost” grins Louis. “We started this band because there’s nothing to do in our hometown and we didn’t want to sit indoors and play video games. That’s what we’ll always be about. This is our outlet and that is the most important thing to us, beyond anything else.”
It is true that the very best music comes from that magic mix of youth, energy, determination and creative spark – and by those measures and many more besides, High Tyde are as exciting a prospect as you could possibly imagine.
