Welcome to Guildford Animal Save's first Vigil of 2018, our 11th in total.
We are part of the Save Movement and aim to bear witness to the animals being sent to slaughter at ABP and spread the vegan message.
We have 3 main aims with our Vigils:
- Firstly, because the Slaughterhouse is on a very public
road we get a lot of attention from drivers by. In having a large amount of people protesting outside we show power in our numbers and it makes a point of how strong our movement is growing when we come together to make a stand
- We also aim to gather video footage/ photographs to share to the general public and social media; in the hope to get people to make an ethical change to their diet when they see the person behind the meat.
- Thirdly and most importantly, we are there to provide comfort to the animals in their final moments. We are there to bear witness to them and acknowledge them as the individuals they are and not the product industry views them as.
The nearest train station is Guildford (30 mins from London Waterloo)
You can also get a bus to Woodlands Road; from both Guildford and Woking station
If you arrive early enough you should be able to park along Moorfield Road. However please be mindful this is for people working and visiting the Industrial Estate for other means of work. There will also be parking in the residential roads, Woodlands Road, and Hazel Avenue, both 2 min walk from SH.
If anyone needs a lift please post in the group as there may be people coming from the same way.
We have an agreement with the security of the Slaughterhouse:
They will stop the trucks outside for us for 2 minutes for us to bear witness, with slats open for us to see inside.
We have agreed to them that we do not go to touch the trucks and we do not stand on the Slaughterhouse's property. There will be barriers up to make the distinction clear.
We hope to see as many of you as possible there! Please invite people you trust and who you think will be interested!
