Fling Festival 2017

The Fling Festival is a unique summer festival of arts curated purely for adults and taking place in the glorious surroundings of Chelmsford's Hylands Park.

The Fling offers a large yet intimate village of music and theatre, set amongst a banquet of unique performances of comedy, poetry, dance, cabaret,

side-shows and other curiosities.

2017 is the year of MORE! More walkabout acts, more comedy, more cabaret, more bars & more quirk.

Headlining this year's main stage we're delighted to welcome iconic Britsh band to Hylands, The Blockheads. Not only have they collaborated with the likes of The Clash, Paul McCartney & Nick Cave, but they've also had a string of hits including Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, Billericay Dickie, and of course their Number One smash, Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick.

Helping supply the musical feast there is 7 piece funk band, The Fontanas, the Balkan brass sounds of Gypsy Hill, Jump-folk from forest of fools, and Afrobeat infused urban funk from 12 piece band Matuki, plus not forgetting the New Orleans inspired sounds of The Brass Funkeys. And returning for another exclusive dj set is BBC 6 Music’s Shaun Keaveny, with special announcement coming soon...

We're also over the moon to have a spoken word headline performance from the original punk-poet, the Bard from Salford, the legendary Dr John Cooper Clarke.

On top of all this we have the usual Fling faves plus a selection of new treats line up for you:

* Silent Disco - more headphones & more tent
* Comedy Tent - headline announcement coming soon
* Theatre Tent - NEW for 2017
* Local stage - NEW for 2017
* Vintage area - NEW for 2017
* Prosecco garden - NEW for 2017
* Ferris wheel
* Horse World
* Rubbish to Treasure - craft making
* Northern Soul Tent

& much, much, much, much, much more
