The M62 stretches from Liverpool to Hull, passing Manchester and Leeds on the way. Millions use it each year, but how do we chronicle its impact?
Join us for the launch of 'M62: The Trans-Pennine Motorway', a new photobook exploring the historical, geographical, geological, social and economic transformations
that the roadway has brought to the North of England.
Kevin Crooks, winner of the 2016 Deutsche Bank Award for Creative Enterprise, has been working on the project for a number of years following the completion of an MA in Photography. ‘M62: The Trans-Pennine Motorway’ is a culmination of the work that has been produced up to this current, initial stage of the project.
Kevin has been supported throughout the production of the book by Heart of Glass. The book has been designed by Richard Higginbottom and will be published by Tide Press in November 2017.
The images within the book are accompanied by text from John Davies, a Church of England Vicar who wrote a biographical account of a Trans-Pennine Journey that he documented titled ‘Walking the M62’. The book also contains the illustrations of Tonwen Jones.
